Someone or something luminous is bright and shiny, or clear and wonderful in a way that reminds you of a bright light.
For example, a full moon can appear luminous, or bright and shiny.

You can call something luminous even if it's not literally bright or shiny. Anything that seems to glow or shine with joy, beauty, or excellence can be called luminous. For example, if you go see a musical, and it fills your heart with joy and wonder, then you can say that the show is luminous, that the music is luminous, and that the actors and actresses are lumious.
